Data protection law is changing on 25 May 2018 and organisations need to be ready for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Bristol Neighbourhood Watch Network is preparing for the change.
As you are well aware, personal data is information relating to an identifiable living individual. Whenever personal data is processed, collected, recorded, stored, or disposed of it must be done within the terms of the Data Protection Act (DPA), which is part of the Bristol Neighbourhood Watch Network and stipulated in our constitution
The General Data Protection Regulation is a new, European-wide law that replaces the Data Protection Act 1998 in the UK. It places greater obligations on how organisations handle personal data. This means any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified by reference to an identifier.
The Guide to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) explains the provisions of the GDPR to help organisations comply with its requirements. It is for those who have day-to-day responsibility for data protection.

NEIGHBOURHOOD AND HOME WATCH NETWORK – CEO KATE ALGATE
This is to announce that Kate Algate, CEO of the Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network (England & Wales) has chosen to step down from her role with immediate effect.
Kate has worked for NHWN for the last 7 years, first as Operations Director and more recently as Chief Executive Officer. In that time she has been instrumental in overseeing the grassroots membership grow from 3.7 million to over 6 million members and the diversification of engagement and interaction with all Police Forces and partners.
In addition, she has negotiated and put in place several high quality sponsorship arrangements for the organisation. The most recent of these has been with ERA Home Security and the Co-op Insurance.
Kate is going to take some well-deserved personal time with her family before embarking on her next role.
Myself as Chair, the Trustees and stakeholders want to thank Kate for her contribution over the many years and wish her all the best for the future.
