Once a scheme has been registered with one or preferably all of the following:
The erection of street signs in Somerset and South Gloucester may differ from that across Bristol, therefore Coordinators in those areas will need to check procedures with the Police NW Administrators for their area.
If you pay your council tax to Bristol City Council:
There are two steps to follow:
Step 1
Obtain an application form for permission to display the NW signs on street furniture from:
Andy Rugman
Asst Street Lighting Officer
andy.rugman@bristol.gov.uk
Tel 07710395949
The council form will give details of the information and specifications required. You will also be asked to supply a map showing exactly which lampposts you would like to display the signs on, giving the number of the lamppost. Where no number is visible on the lamppost, you should state the number of the nearest house(s) to the lamppost.
Once you have sent in the form and obtained your letter of permission from the council, keep the original for your records as this may be needed in future should you need to replace any signs) and take a photocopy for step 2.
Step 2
Download a copy of the NW Street Sign order form (link also provided below), and send the completed form together with the photocopy of the council's letter of permission to:
NW Administrator
Bridewell Police Station
1-2 Bridewell Street
Bristol BS1 2AA
Replacing old, damaged or missing street signs.
If signs are to be replaced and they are to be situated on the same lampposts as the original permission was obtained for, there is no need to re-apply for permission from the relevant council. Just send another photocopy of the original Council approval together with a new street sign order form to the NW Administrator, address as above.
